Who We Are

What are we trying to do? Why? And how? Many of the answers are found here.

Page Guiding Values
Hatcher Church in the Lakeside Community of Richmond emerged from many foundational principles which, in varying degrees, remain our "guiding values" today. Stating these is a work in progress and requires more than one or two word bullet points. At the conclusion below, we invite your inquiry and comments on any or all of these. You must register with our site in order to comment. Comments will be reviewed and edited. Thanks.
Folder Ministries
Hatcher Church regularly provides ongoing ministries of worship, discipleship, ministry projects, and fellowship -- for all ages. This page allows you to learn more about many of these ministries.
Page The Hatcher Promise
Are you considering becoming part of the Hatcher Church Community? What are the "promises" (norms, expectations, agreements) shared among us? The Hatcher Promise provides benchmarks for measuring the quality of our life together. The "Promise" is most effective when used for self-assessment/correction/affirmation and least helpful when used to scrutinize others. We routinely renew these promises as part of our morning worship.
Page "What Every Virginia Baptist Wants to Know"
The roots of Hatcher sink deep in Virginia Baptist soil! "What Every Virginia Baptist Wants to Know" is a document spelling out the core beliefs and commitments of Virginia Baptists. It's from the website of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board.

Folder Our Beginnings
It has been said that no one can move fully into the future without constant reflection on one's past. The history of our church is a fascinating interplay between the human and the divine. Story after drama-filled story provides insight into the caldron in which we were formed. As a multi-generational church family, we are only beginning to grasp the complexity and the beauty of what God has been patiently creating in our midst. Come join us on the journey. Many thanks to our newly formed "Hatcher Historical Society" led by Carolyn Mattox. This is truly a work in progress.
