Love and Fellowship

Love and Fellowship is a lively group of senior adults in Hatcher's community. Find out more about their activities and programs.

This active group of retirees meets the first and third Thursday mornings of each month.  They gather in Hatcher's Fellowship Hall at 10 o'clock for a program, usually, a guest speaker or musician, then stay for lunchtime together.  They bring their own lunch, except on occasions when they do “covered dish.”

Here are some special events during the year:

  • At the Christmas and Easter seasons, they leave their brown bags at home and gather for a special holiday banquet.
  • A highlight of each summer is when they join another group of seniors at their church in Callao (Virginia's Northern Neck) for a cookout picnic.
  • Their annual Turnip Festival, in the fall, is a sumptuous feast of stewed turnips and greens -- but it's mainly just good, old-fashioned fun.  They often prepare gift baskets for people they've known who are homebound or in nursing homes.
  • Each spring and fall, they plan a day trip by bus to a mountain lodge (good eating)or a regional dinner theatre.
