Woman's Missionary Union

by admin last modified 2007-08-16 16:00

Women on Mission is an organization of adult women who meet monthly to support missions education, missions offerings, and ministry projects at Hatcher.

Women on Mission:
A Heritage of Missions Support at Hatcher

These ladies gather on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:15, just as they have done for many years.  They engage in a Bible study and pray for domestic and international missionaries on a rotating basis during the month of their birthdays.

A highlight each month is when they learn about mission activities that are taking place in various places around the world.  These include guest speakers, special studies, and feature presentations that inform and inspire them about how God's message of redemption is being shared everywhere.

They also organize and promote the special offerings that Hatcher conducts each Easter and Christmas and other special seasons.  These offerings support mission endeavors that are ongoing globally, in the U.S., in our state, and the Richmond area.

Perhaps their most important function is the ministry projects they participate in directly:

  • They regularly serve meals to VCU and U of R students at their Baptist Student Unions,
  • Collect clothes and toys for the annual Christmas stores conducted at the local centers operated by the Richmond Baptist Association,
  • Packing bookbags with donated school supplies for the local Baptist centers.
  • Assisting with collection of foodstuffs, for the Lamb's Basket, a food assistance center operated by a group of Lakeside churches.

Women of all ages are encouraged to attend and participate with us on the second Tuesday of each month.  (To see if they're meeting this Tuesday, go to our Calendar, and click on Opportunities of the Week for that week.)
